Education is not filling a pail but the lighting of a fire.
~William Butler Yeats
This observation has never been more appropriate than when applied to the study of recording sciences and music technology.
What is the ASSR Educational License?
The Educational License lets educational establishments provide the material contained in The Art & Science Of Sound Recording to multiple students, on multiple computers, for a single price.
The Educational License also provides Course Director with ‘backend access’ to the artandscienceofsound website so they can monitor both what has been viewed by each student and the individual student scores on Section quizzes. (The Quizzes have been widely recognized as powerful ways to reinforce the knowledge contained in each Section.)
The ASSR Educational License comprises:
- Individual online delivery of ASSR to each registered student in your program or course (24 Sections)
- Student access to the website for source materials, bonus material, and forums
- Course director / teacher access to each student’s attendance and performance results from Section Quizzes.
- A copy of the physical DVD set for your library/Course Director
- A copy of the script (.pdf)
- Special student pricing on additional copies of the DVD set
Why have an Educational License?
One viewing of a Section from ASSR will be interesting, and will alert you to several pieces of information you didn’t know.
Recording, however, is a large and complex subject. Several months of looking at the Quiz test scores online have confirmed that those who have viewed a Section several times have achieved far higher test scores.
Additionally, we want students to have on going and uninterrupted access to this material so that they can refer to and cross-reference topics covered in this series with modules and assignments offered by your particular course.
Who is the Educational License suitable for?
ASSR is suitable for all ages and skills levels at High School (aged 15+) and beyond. With the increased availability of media arts and technology courses at 2-year and 4-year colleges, plus the continued success of independent training centers and career schools, it has become increasingly important for standards to be available in digital audio recording practices.
